pictures are to come, I don't have access to my camera cord at the moment because I can't get into my room... read more for details. okay people..... sweden is not as easy as you think it would be, or as easy as I thought it would be. The past three days... have been... difficult to say the least... The boys that live in our dorm keep saying, "you crazy American girls! Everything is only happening to you guys!" (Karma is coming after them for that comment... you will see) I swear I am not just being the typical over dramatic person that I am... well maybe just a little... I will let you decide. It took us four trains and two planes to get here and it really wasn't that bad. We got off the final train looking like we had been in a train accident but it's fine... We got here starving and were fed this...
one piece of bread, a triangle of cheese, a baby baby apple, and a juice box. Thinking that dinner was the worst part of the day, Katie and I found out that our apartments were across town from each other. We told the housing company that we needed to be together and they told us that Katie could sleep on my floor for now. So that is exactly what she has done. We have been sharing a little room and living out of our suitcases until we have the correct apartment.
That is only the beginning of the story though... things have just progressively gotten worse. I have to laugh about everything though because we expected things to go wrong... this just isn't quite what we had in mind.
We have been staying up late in order to Skype with our boyfriends and families, and waking up early to utilize our days the best we can. (everything closes really early here.) We woke up and went straight to a meeting about or housing contracts. Once we got there, we were told many different things until WE came up with the solution to have Katie move into my building and just on a different floor. She moved in but has continued to sleep on my floor... until tonight that is, but that part is not until later. After our meeting we went shopping to get bedding, notebooks, groceries, and anything else we needed in a cheap part of town. We went to a bike shop and a man tried charging us like a million dollars for 4 months of use on a bike that literally was made out of rust.... no thank you. We got back from a looonngg day shopping and were STARVING. The only thing we had eaten in the past 2 days had been the dinner from up above. So we went to subway because we knew it would be cheap and good, which it was. We finally got STILL water from the tap at Subway! We also took extra cups and filled them so we would have some back at our apartment haha.
...moving on because this is getting SUPER long....
Today we woke up late and ran out the door with a piece of bread in hand for orientation. We contemplated leaving the orientation early for a long time and finally decided Karma had had the best of us and it would be okay if we left.... we were wrong.... We went bike shopping and still had no luck and decided to take the 1/2 hour walk home... SURPRISE we got lost. Three hours later and still running on one piece of bread we ran into a MENTAL INSTITUTION... didn't know those things still existed. We quickly got away and started asking directions. We made it back to town okay but ended up in downtown and some how ended up shopping and buying something... we FINALLY got home and were exhausted and starving. I had to go to the bathroom really bad and so I hurried in but before I could go I smelt something AWFUL. (if you have a sensitive stomach DO NOT keep reading) I looked to my right and my shower drain had literally blown off and there was "Shisa" all over the shower. If you don't know what that is, german translate it. ALL OVER. Katie and I quickly ran out yelling and somewhat screaming for help. We then called the plumber to come fix it. We hurried and began moving Katie's bed and all of her belongings to her room so that we didn't look funny with two girls in one room. As we took everything upstairs two of the boys we live with were laughing at us.... After, Katie began dinner and I began to write this post, as the plumbers were showing up, and calling in back up. We were still holding our breath from the smell and trying not to pee our pants for laughing so hard. This all would happen to us. We got dinner made! (our first real meal since MONDAY) Both of the boys rooms needed pumping (KARMA) and as far as I know it has only gotten to 5 rooms so far. But we were warned it is probably traveling. Everyone has shisa in the shower.... great.... I will most likely be on Katie's floor tonight and will probably still be laughing. Just thought I would keep you posted. Until later, remember this, WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND. xoxo
I promise the next post will be pictures!!!!
